Today, the twenty songs competing in the 2024 edition of the Festival da Canção, the Portuguese national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, were unveiled. Rita Rocha, chosen from over 800 contestants through free submission, will perform Pontos Finais in the first semifinal scheduled for February 24.
The song was entirely written and composed by the artist, and the production was handled by João André and Feodor Bivol. The harp, where Pontos Finais began to take shape, takes center stage in the song, complemented by the strong presence of choirs and synthesizers.
Last week, Rita Rocha unveiled the documentary Três Pontinhos about an album of the same name that she made in partnership with Pedro Marques, amidst an orchestra of 40 musicians. Available on digital platforms, the album began to take shape when the artist was only 14 years old.
In 2021, Rita Rocha released the platinum debut single Mais ou Menos Isto. Immediately acclaimed by the audience, the following year she performed at MEO Marés Vivas and Festival F, two of the biggest Portuguese festivals.
Last year, she released the EP A Miúda do 319, which features the also platinum single Outros Planos. The tracks from the short-duration achieved high airplay on major national radios and feature notable collaborations, including AGIR, Bárbara Tinoco, and Carolina Deslandes. The EP was presented live at Cineteatro Capitólio (Lisbon) and at a sold-out Teatro Sá da Bandeira (Porto).
Also in the same year, she lent her voice to the song Into the Void, part of the soundtrack of the acclaimed Portuguese Netflix series Turn of the Tide. She was also honored with the People's Choice award at the IPMA Awards, an event held in the USA that recognizes music produced by artists with Portuguese descent.
In addition to her participation in the Festival da Canção, Rita Rocha has promised the release of her first solo studio album. Thus, 2024 promises to showcase the 17-year-old artist's talent for writing and composing but also to establish her as one of the great Portuguese pop performers of the new generation.
