Tiago Bettencourt

Author of several landmark compositions in the new Portuguese music scene, always sung in Portuguese, it was over twenty years ago that Tiago Bettencourt embarked on what would be his first studio adventure, with Toranja, forever marking the Portuguese musical landscape. The richness of simplicity in his lyrics and melodies quickly captured the audience's attention in unforgettable tracks like Carta and Laços. The band announced a prolonged hiatus in 2006, at which point the artist decided to continue his journey under his own name.

From his solo debut album, O Jardim (2007), to his most recent, 2019 Rumo ao Eclipse (2020), numerous essential tracks of the contemporary national songbook are included, such as O Jogo, Só Mais uma Volta, Morena, Se Me Deixasses Ser, or Viagem. To celebrate his 20-year career, at the end of 2022, he took the stages of the Coliseum of Lisbon and Casa da Música in Porto, with the Orquestra Clássica do Centro, and under the theme "Fim de Festa", he returned to the same venues at the end of 2023.

Tiago Bettencourt doesn't belong to any movement, current, or style. His path is solitary, independent, varied, and coherent, thus keeping him at the forefront of Portuguese-language music.
