Milhanas

Milhanas, born in 2001, began studying music from an early age. She studied violin, vocal technique, was part of a jazz combo and a modern music combo, participated in the gospel choir, musical training, music history, composition and even Musical Theater.

She released her first original, Lamentos [Regrets], in 2021. Written at dawn, this sad chant, in which Milhanas reclaims her regrets and cries the urgency of feeling at peace, reveals a Fado soul. The artist admits that, even though she is not a Fado singer, it is in Fado she finds most inspiration and remembers the importance of words, silence and interpretation.

In 2023 she released her second single, Mais que ao Sol [More than the Sun]. The lyrics express a submissive love, a love with no freedom, in Milhanas' own words. This song anticipates her debut album, to be released soon, and that will also feature Lamentos. Recently she released Mundo [World], produced by AGIR and Justjon. This is a melancholic song that mixes traditional with modern elements of music.

Milhanas is currently nominated to Best New Artist in Play Awards 2023.

Inspired by her father's life, Milhanas chooses Fausto as her greatest musical influence, as her father produced and performed with Fausto. In high school she also developed a strong like for Portuguese literature that truly influences her writing.
